What Auto-Astra collects, why, and how to change it

Analytics — off unless you turn it on

If you accept, the game sends gameplay events to a server operated by the developer: which missions you start and finish, where you get stuck, how long you play, what errors occur, and how the game performs. It is used to find the parts of the game that are confusing or broken.

Each event is labelled with a random installation identifier, a random per-session identifier, and the game version. No name, email address or account is attached. Your IP address is not stored with the events. We do not sell this data or share it with advertisers.

Events are deleted automatically after 90 days.

Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

You can change your mind at any time

Analytics can be switched on or off in the game's Settings. Turning analytics off withdraws your consent, stops collection and deletes the installation identifier from your device, so later data cannot be linked to earlier data.

Bug reports

If you send a report from inside the game, it includes what you type, your installation identifier, the game version and your operating system. It also includes — only if you leave them ticked — a screenshot and the last 150 lines of the game's log file. You see exactly what will be sent before it is sent.

The log excerpt is sent as-is. It can contain file paths that include your computer's user name and, if you were playing co-op, the network addresses of the other players. Untick the box if you prefer not to send it.

Reports are received by this website, which records the IP address the report came from, and are then filed as an issue in the developer's bug tracker, Jira Cloud, operated by Atlassian under Atlassian's privacy policy. Reports are used only to investigate and fix the problem you reported. The copy on this website is deleted 180 days after submission. The issue in the bug tracker is kept until the bug is fixed. You can ask for either to be deleted earlier at any time.

The main menu also links to a feedback form hosted on Google Forms. Anything you submit there is processed by Google under Google's privacy policy.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in finding and fixing bugs you report (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Co-op play

Co-op currently works over your local network only. Games connect directly between the players' computers, so players on the same network can see each other's local network address, and the host's computer user name is shown as the game's name. No game traffic passes through the developer's servers.

Steam

If you play through Steam, your achievements and lifetime stats are stored by Valve under Valve's own privacy policy. The game does not read your Steam name or Steam ID.

This website

auto-astra.com uses Google Analytics and Metricool to measure visits. Both set cookies and process your IP address under their own privacy policies: Google, Metricool. Google Analytics transfers data to the United States. Neither is loaded until you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time under "Cookie settings" in the footer. Your choice is stored in a cookie for one year. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

The site is hosted by OVH, a French hosting provider, and delivered through Cloudflare, which acts as a proxy in front of the site and therefore sees the IP address of every request under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Both act as processors on our behalf.

If you create an account, your email address, display name and the blueprints you upload are stored to run the site and are not shared with anyone else. Blueprints are public and show your display name. Legal basis: the agreement between you and us when you create the account (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Account data is kept until you delete the account, which you can do yourself under Account settings, "Cancel my account". Deleting the account also deletes your blueprints.

Like any web server, this site keeps request logs that include IP addresses, used for security and troubleshooting. They are kept for no more than 30 days.

Children

The game and this website are not directed at children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw any consent you have given at any time. Contact: [email protected]. Your installation identifier is shown in the game's Settings; quoting it lets us find your data.

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, such as the Spanish Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.
